Video: Dr. Dre feat. Eminem, Skylar Grey- “I Need A Doctor”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Dr. Dre makes his return with the release of a new music video for his lead single, “I Need a Doctor” (featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey) off the long-awaited album Detox. The video builds much substance regarding Dre’s return as he reminisces on times of his career at peak and ties broken along the way; also depicting the close bond between him and Em that still prevailed. Dre especially tributes to 2pac, Eazy-E and his son, Andre.

Video: The Foreign Exchange – “Authenticity”

What do you get when you cross Phonte (1/3 of the now defunct group, Little Brother) with Nicolay, widely acclaimed Dutch electronic/hip-hop/r&b producer? The Foreign Exchange. The duo finally released a music video for the title track off their latest album, Authenticity. The video (directed by Matthew Cherry) is an honest and truly authentic portrayal of the unfortunate mishaps a couple may face in an “exclusive” relationship. The lyrics “you just want what you want” speak at its loudest in the end where the video literally brings the song home. The album is available for purchase here.

Video: Kanye West ft. Rihanna, Kid Cudi – “All of the Lights”

*Beware if you have epilepsy*

Say what you want about Kanye, but the man is a musical genius. And although this video may not compare to previous ones he’s released, it’s still got that wow-factor to keep fans at the edge of their seat. Or maybe the track is just that dope that I can boost the hype up (see what I did there?) The horn-donned intro is something of a masterpiece and gives the track a feeling of triumph and gratification. I must admit, the light show was a little dragged out to the point where it could’ve seemed lame but a shockingly sexy Rihanna saved the day with her next-to-nothing get-up that left little to the imagination. Kid Cudi also makes an appearance in some mean red leather.

The video was directed by Hype Williams and features vocals by Fergie, Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Tony Williams, Alicia Keys, La Roux, The Dream, Ryan Leslie, Alvin Fields and Ken Lewis. Holy wow. A cameo from all of these artists would’ve definitely made for a beyond mind-blowing video. Talk about random.

Video: Teedra Moses – “R U 4 Real?”

It’s always a breath of fresh air to hear from Teedra Moses again, and it looks like there’s plenty more where it came from this time. After seven years, the R&B soulful starlet makes a return with a sophomore album (untitled as of yet) that she hopes to release by August, as stated in an interview with The Juice. In the meantime, check out her sexy new music video “R U 4Real” directed by Phil the God. According to Okayplayer, the song will serve as the first single off her upcoming album.

Personally, I cannot wait for this new album. I’ve been a faithful fan ever since Complex Simplicity, so hopefully the new record will bring justice to the exasperating hiatus that she’s been on. This is exactly what my ears have been fiending for. I’m expecting great things, Teedra!

Video: Trey Songz “Love Faces”

When you think of Trey Songz, you’re almost guaranteed to think of, yes, what the R&B sensation is infamously known for. Sex. Never has there been an artist, as of late at least, to make such an abundance of babymaking songs. So when an artist like himself announces a video to be officially released on Valentine’s Day, fans of the heart-throb anxiously await, hoping to get a glimpse of.. well, yeah. And then there was the release (no pun here).

But wait, this is it?! With a track entitled “Love Faces,” I was hoping for something at least a little more.. exclusive. But nope. None of that familiar steaminess à la “Neighbors Know My Name” but rather, a concept that I honestly just didn’t *get.* My guess is that he wanted to change it up but come on, the video might as well have been for a song about oh, I don’t know… paint? And what is the role of the girl in the video? An artist? A photographer? A model with a huge ego? I admit, the hand print bit at the end was kind of cute. Kind of. But Trey Songz doesn’t do cute. Although he does happen to look delish in this video if I do say so myself. That’s about all, though that this video has going for it. A huge letdown for an anticipated Valentine’s Day release. Any thoughts?
